In celebration of Black History Month, Nike introduces the “Uplift” collection honoring the accomplishments and spirit of three legendary squads: the 1996 USA Basketball Women’s team, the 2002 Brazil Men’s Soccer team, and the 2008 Kenyan Long-Distance running team. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant colors of Kenyan beads and Brazilian Carnivale, designers created a signature Black History Month print that can be found stamped on each of the collection’s pieces. Nike is also debuting the “Uplift” pattern, a combination of cultural elements from the United States, Brazil and Kenya that can be spotted on exclusive versions the Women’s Blazer High and Air Force 1. Keeping our tradition of honoring this month by supporting organizations that help young people achieve greatness, Nike will make a financial contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
The Nike Black History Month 2012 “Uplift” Collection is available today (Feb 11th) at Momentum’s 8th st location.
